An Activist Group Inspired by the Legacy of Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters (HTFF) was started in 2016 but was officially incorporated four years later by Rosemary McCoy, who became the group's president.  HTFF leads fostering a world where Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are possible for everyone.

Rosemary Osborne McCoy

Co-founder, and Executive Director

Rosemary is co-founder of Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters. She was born and raised in Philadelphia PA by her mother and father Francis and Asberry William Osborne. Rosemary served seven great years in the United States Navy and was discharged due to a near fatal automobile accident. For several years, she owned and operated Kingdom Real Estate until her life changed in 2013. Rosemary when she was arrested and in 2015 accepted a guilty plea agreement. In 2016 she completed the terms of her sentence and went on to receive a BA in Criminal Justice Administration. She became an advocate for the passing of Florida Amendment 4. To protect our voting rights Rosemary is the plaintiff in SB 7066 and SB90 lawsuit. Former Vice President of Northeast FL ACLU chapter. Formerly served on Legal Aid Client Advisory Board. Rosemary continues to volunteer and support other 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations because ‘Together We Win.”

Monica

Treasurer/ and Marketing Director

Monica is a recent graduate with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. She is currently working on a professional certificate in UX design. She has 11 years of financial services experience. Monica has worked with high-net-worth clients. To build relationships, Monica partnered with Account Executives and branch Private Client specialists. Her relationship strategy skills will assist in HTFF capacity-building campaigns. She uses different facilitator strategies to present and engage the audience. Monica’s experience as a voter registration/data analyst will ensure that we operate from the highest standards of integrity.

Kyle Mitchell

Web/Graphic Design

Kyle Mitchell is the Owner of Mitchell & Company LLC, a marketing and consulting company for non-profit organizations. He is also the Director of Operations for Project Help Florida, a non-profit that supports all the homeless and struggling veterans in our community. They support financially, with mentoring, mental and physical health, housing, and employment to help those who deserve it most. Owner of Decorus Photography, a graphic design, film, and photography company specializing in logo and poster design, media posts, and event photography. And most recently Treasurer for the Duval Progressive Caucus which aims to make the community of Duval a better, safer, and stronger place.

Janine Williams

Secretary and Program Director

Janine  Williams is the Secretary and Program Director for Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters. She is a committed Mother of 3 and Grandmother of 4. She is a Voting Activist and has had a passion for giving back to the community since she and mentor Rosemary McCoy began creating and organizing educational programs for women who were incarcerated in the County jail almost a decade ago. Janine is the Co-founder and Youth Director of Harriet Tubman's Youth Community Crusaders (YCC's)  which consist of children ages 5 to 18 that may live in Justice Impacted communities. Together, we are building community leaders. Janine is also a Licensed Cosmetologist and Certified Home Health Aid. Her hobbies are writing, and singing and she loves to research!
